Bensalem

Bensalem Township was established in 1692 and its borders have never
changed. It surrounded on three sides by water- the Neshaminy Creek, the
Delaware River and the Poquessing Creek- and the fourth side by Lower
Southampton Township at Brownsville Road. Bensalem Township is readily
accessible with Interstate 95, Pennsylvania Turnpike. The population of the
area was first a few Dutch and Swedes, then later a larger influx of English,
and then additional Dutch settled the area.

Bensalem Township has no incorporated boroughs within its boundaries; it consists of a group of communities, each with its own identity and community life, including churches, schools, fire companies and other community activities joined together in one larger municipal body called a “Township.”

From the farms and mansions along the Delaware River, Bensalem has grown into a commercial & residential area. Bensalem is now home to thousands of people from various locations around the world. Bensalem Township Parks and Recreation provides Township residents and non-residents alike with the opportunity to participate in quality, innovative and affordable programming. Well-maintained parks and sports complexes provide the opportunity for all to enjoy both organized programs and passive activities.
